The Frustrating Francis Fanboys

Sadly, just as there are Holocaust deniers, so there are deniers of the present crisis in the Church. Despite all the video evidence, they turn a blind eye. They imitate Officer Barbrady of South Park in saying, “Move along! Nothing to see here!”

They believe all of the arguments in defense of the blatant idolatry sanctioned by Pope Francis. They ignore how the Vatican’s story changed several times about what was going on. They ignore how a Cardinal then lied about it to our faces after Pope Francis himself admitted to the statues being Pachamama. They ignore that the Vatican communications chief denied that there was prostration to Pachamama in the Vatican gardens. Even Bishop Krautler has bragged about the fact that he hasn’t baptized anyone in 50 years and was photographed romantically holding hands with a young woman.
The list goes on and on. Including how the author of the working doc for the synod explicitly advocates for married clergy and women deacons. And how someone inside the Vatican childishly edited Dr. Taylor Marshall’s Wikipedia page in order to smear him. I believe he was singled out because he’s been an outspoken defender of the Deposit of Faith and has written a book detailing how the Church has been infiltrated. I wrote a review of it here.
The standard defense of the deniers is to claim that the sources are unreliable and/or that quotes were taken out of context. Even worse, they deny that it was ever said or happened to begin with.
I will be honest. During the early years of the Francis pontificate, I was among the deniers. I didn’t want to believe that we could have a pope who would try to change timeless doctrine. I didn’t want to believe that we could have a pope who would say one thing but then do another. I didn’t want to believe he could even contradict himself at times.
Then came Francis’s statement saying that we need to focus less on doctrine and more on “pastoral accompaniment”; that we are focusing too much on life issues and need to put those aside. I felt scandalized. I felt abused. I felt abandoned by the man who should be my father and protector. The dominoes began to fall.
I thought about Francis, who’s supposed to be “the people’s pope,” is adored by the world while faithful, orthodox Catholics are increasingly scandalized and demonized. I thought about how questions arising from Francis’s ambiguity remain unanswered. I thought about how all of the predictions of Life Site News, Church Militant, and others were being vindicated.
I gave them another look and found that contrary to the characterization that they are radical and hateful, they are kind and faithful. They ask simple questions. They go based on evidence. They are joyful and pray the rosary. They pray for Pope Francis and for the bishops and priests. In other words, the deniers’ rejection of them is nothing but ad hominem attacks to justify burying their heads in the sand.
The Church is in pain and anguish. Confusion and ambiguity seem to reign in the highest members of the hierarchy. Our Lady of Fatima warned us this time would come. She also promised us that in the end her Immaculate Heart will triumph.
If you are feeling hurt and confused, know that you are not alone. We are all in this together and God, when He chooses, will put everything right. In the meantime, let us pray for the strength to do our duty; to fight for truth and the Deposit of Faith; to fight for Christ the true King.
